Dear Brother:

In reply to your note of 12th inst I must say I was somewhat surprised at the request contained therein. When your father went to the farm he had comparatively nothing, but the family went away fullhanded and with plenty and certainly they were supported during the time they were at the farm. When leaving I told you to take what you liked, and you did take until you said you could not in conscience take any thing more. I think you must have forgotten these things or you would not <have> introduced this question now.
