Mr. Mac Ayres.

Dear Sir:

The note of the Kirtland Safety Bank for $50.00, which you enclose in your communication, and which I now return to you, is, though doubtless unknown to you, a forgery, where it a good one it would make no difference with regard to my cashing it, as I am not responsible, any more than yourself, to meet the paper of the Bank, being in no way interested in it; on the other hand, if it be your desire to renew your covenants with the Lord, and gather with His saints, we will do, -- as we do with others -- extend what aid may be in our power to assist you in fulfilling the requirements of Heaven. Should you, next summer, desire to come out here with the intention of identifying yourself with the people of God in these Valleys, you might then write to me again on the subject and come with our immigration

Yours Very Respectfully.
Brigham Young
