Dec. 7. 1870.

Bp. Peter Maughan,
Logan.

Dear Bro:--

Mrs. Sarah Bollen, known as Mrs. Ross, left this place this morning for Logan.

The circumstances of her removal from this place, are briefly these:-- Her husband was a poor crippled tailor; he had occupied, for many years, a church Lot, lying just north of Prest. Kimball's premises, and only paid $45.00 towards it and no rent whatever.

We are now asking the widow (Bro. Ross died about 1 year ago) to surrender the premises to the Church, and agree to furnish her a house and lot in Logan, 2 cows, 6 sheep, 1 pig, 12 chickens, some flour, wood and potatoes: Also some merchandise. but, I expect to be at Logan in a few days, and will give you the list of M'dse. to furnish her.

Prest. Wells and I thought that a lot could be cheaply got in the suburbs of the town, and a comfortable log-house, with one room be built thereon on labor tithing. The lot and house should not cost over $450.00 or $500.00.

She is a hard woman to please, and has lived on the charity of the 18th Ward much of the time. The crippled father was very feeble, and scarcely able to do anything. Her oldest daughter has been going to a Gentile school: if she was put to work she could earn something.

Respectfully &c.
A. Milton Musser
