Sir

Edward A. Bedell of Warsaw, Illinois, has been appointed by the President, Agent for the Indians in Utah Territory in place of Jacob I C Holeman.

Mr Bedell will be directed to report to you for instructions in the discharge of his official duties, and on his arrival in your City you will direct him to call on Mr. Holeman and receive from him all public Money and other public property in his possession, giving to Mr. Holeman a receipt therefor.

The compensation of Mr. Bedell will commence from the day on which he relieves Mr.Holeman.
