Elder Joseph W. Young.

Dear Bro:-The Companies for the Little Colorado will be organized at Winsor Castle, when a suitable number of men arrive at that place to travel in safety. They should be organized and sent forward with a suitable guide.

There will be a letter of instructions to those companies which will be sent to your care to St. George.

We wish you to see to the organizing of those small companies yourself, in person, or by sending some suitable man or men for that purpose. Some of those brethren who accompanied Bishop Roundy are the proper persons to go as guides. Jacob Hamblin should make it his special business to do all in his power towards bringing the Indians into line, thas is, to instruct them to work, to herd the stock, to act as watchmen, to learn our language &c.

We doubt not but what the brethren are capable of organizing themselves, but we prefer that you see to this and make your report accordingly. We can then do business with the brethren through you when it shall be necessary.

Your Bro. in the Gospel,
Brigham Young
