Letter <of 17th> received. There is no necessity for wall so think as was contemplated.-the buttresses serve as walls -- My mind is to reduce basement wall to 3 feet 6 inches -- and from top of basement the entire height 3 feet. Keep inside of wall as originally intended -contract from outside -- We will send two barrels cement -- We will furnish rope and boat and take them out in ferrying -- Have men get out timber for gunnels for boat say 40 by 12 feet -The bulk of the companies should settle on Little Colorado -- if there is rock and materials for building we will build considerable of a place there, but eventually we must make our way to the Gila, on the line of 32 parallel railroad. the 35 parallel road is not likely to be completed for several years.

You are hereby authorized to draw on Rio Virgen M. Co. for means to build my house, they owe me money and should furnish what is needed -- Beef, Milch Cows, <& Money for glass, Paints, Nails> &c. I made no calculations whatever about going south in May. It seems advisable to tarry here until after fall conference, then I can go to the Colorado and return to St. George to winter.
