Elder Joseph W. Young.

Dear Bro: Yours of the 21st. April was duly received. Your bond was approved by Conference, but it will require to be attested; when it is done please forward and we will attach it to the bond.

Conference closed on May 4. The Meeting was very large the last day. We found the time too limited to attend to all the business we had to do, and the Council has since appointed a number of Patriarchs throughout the Territory, some of whom, -- those who are well and
active -- will officiate in their calling and bless the people; and the old and faithful brethren, who have borne the heat and burden of the day, and are almost worn down, we wish to bestow the blessing of that Priesthood upon them before they pass behind the veil. If you have any names to suggest, of such brethren, we would be pleased to hear from you. Bro Goddard will give you the names of those who have been appointed in Southern Utah. We expect these persons will be set apart by some of the twelve when holding missionary meetings in the different settlements. These appointments are not intended to interfere with any other offices or callings held by those brethren.

With regard to the building of my house in St George I wish it distinctly understood, and would like you to inform Bro Gates, that unless it can be built without interest due me on the notes of the Rio Virgen Mag. Co. I do not want it built. If the company will not furnish the means, I want the work stopped forthwith. I do not want to trammel the Company in their operations and if they can furnish the means without inconvenience to their business I would rather not build, but I supposed it would have been a favor to them for me to use that means in making improvements in St George, but I do not urge the matter at all.

Peace be with you

Your Bro. in the Gospel
