Gentl[n].

Your kind note, of even date was handed me this evening. Your Solicitations, for my intervention, and using my influence to direct the Ladies of this city to Howard Hall during the Christmas Holidays, are appreciated and respected. The Ladies of this City, who have arrived to the Years of accountability, are measurably free to move in the society most congenial with their feelings during Holidays, or any other, for this reason, I respectfully decline to do anything in the matter; but if I was to counsel them, it would be, to direct their association among those whom they know, and have proven to be faithful and true, at the sametime be assured, that you always have my Kind regards and best wishes.

Most Respectfully
Brigham Young
