Elder Nath[l] Jones,

Dear Brother
I write to release you and the brethren with you, from their Mission, to which you were appointed. I feel that it is enough and that you should no longer tarry, neither in Calcutta, Siam nor any part of India.

You will of course leave things in as good a situation as you can, but if there are any faithful Saints, who wish to gather to Zion, and they can come home with you, it would be best for them to come with you, We think that it is the best policy not to leave any but laboring Elders in the field, where it can be helped.

Numerous are the reasons for urging the gathering of the Saints, not the least important of which is that they may become amalgamated together in their faith, views, and feelings, in order that a oneness may prevail among all the people of God, Again when left out in the world they oftentimes, are without a shepherd, they sometimes fall out by the wayside, and henceforth are no more found among the people of God nor take delight in his Holy Word.

Again the way ere long may be hedged up, It appears however, from letters received from the Missions, that but few have received the Gospel in that distant region, and there will consequently not be many to gather out

We are progressing much as usual in our regular business. The Sugar Works on Big Kanyon Creek, has just commenced operations, and bids fair to do a good business.

The health of all the families of the Missionaries, so far as I am acquainted is good; peace, quietness, and unusual prosperity prevails throughout the valleys of the Mountains.

The Indians about Laramie, and along the road, however, are Hostile, Praying that the Blessings of Heavens King may rest upon you and preserve you and all the Brethren to a safe return to our Mountain home
