Hon. J. M, Bernhisel,

Dear Brother:-
The enclosed directed to Col. Kane contains Drafts given by him to meet his expenses incurred in our business. We request you to hand them to him at some future time, say a few months after you receive them. You are aware the Col. is very sensitive on such matters. He absolutely refused to take any thing; although he should not object to our paying his expenses. President Young, who is at present absent in Provo, having removed already that far south, desired me to obtain the Drafts, and make this disposition of the matter.

We also duplicate President Young's letter which was sent per <last> Cal. Mail; and first copy of `Deseret News' issued from Fillmore City.

As ever, I remain, very truly and sincerely
Your friend and brother,

Daniel H Wells
