Mr. Augustus S. Beckwith

Dear Brother:--
Your note of this date is received, in response to your wishing to return to St Louis to spend the Winter and obtain your family I think it would be wisdom for you to do so, and may God bless you and enable you to accomplish all the good that there is in your heart for the salvation not only of your family but our fellow man.

We are not at present administering the Ordinances in the "House of the Lord" giving Endowments &c. but will take great pleasure in giving you all the teaching and authority necessary to enable you to progress in the knowledge of the truth and make you useful in the Church and Kingdom of God upon the earth.

Trusting that the power of God may attend your efforts in saving the honest in heart and redeeming a fallen world from sin and wickedness which at present enshrouds it as a mantle, I remain sincerely

Your Brother in the Gospel of Salvation.

Brigham Young
