Dear Brother,

Your letter making enquiries concerning the raising [?] is received and in reply I will state that when you arrive at Kanesville you can get one of Clayton's guides, which will prove of [material?] service to you on your journey.

It affords me sincere pleasure to hear from the missionaries especially those who having passed through the fiery [?] faithful and firm in the faith.  This is the sound that prepares us to live to bring us to a true understanding of our dependence upon our God.  If man wishes to inherit celestial glory he must not complain if he shall be made "a partaker of the sufferings of Christ", by it we shall be [?] and be enabled to participate in his glory.  So shall our most ardent aspirations be realized if we continue faithful unto the end, and in[ illegible] at not having lived in vain.  The word to all the Saints is to gather as fast as circumstances will permit. to the vallies of the mountains [illegible] outfit but exercising that energy which [illegible] your own [?] and you will come whether you have a dime or not.  come if you have to walk across the plains.

Therefore come with good courage and exercising [?] faith and humility and the God of Jacob will [illegible]. Praying that the blessings of the faithful may rest upon you I am [illegible] ever  lasting covenant
