Dear Brother.
Your letter of Dec. 7th, relative to the emigration of certain of your friends from the old country, has been received. Upon enquiry I discover that you stand indebted to the Perpetual Emigrating Fund Co., in the sum of $169.65 Dollars, being balance still due on a/c of the emigration of yourself and family in the year 1853. I think it would be better for you to liquidate this amount, before you contract any further indebtedness, when you have arranged this matter, we will try and accommodate you what we can, relative to the emigration of your friends.

Your Brother in the Gospel

Brigham Young
