Joseph S. Scofield.

Sir,
I am gratified in informing you of your prosperity in family matters since your departure, your wife having been delivered of twins during the last month.  Her health tho'not good is improving.  All seem doing tolerable well but I think you had better return as soon as you can make it convenient.  Get a horse if you can and come home without delay.  All is peace and quietness with us.  Hoping the same blessing is richly abiding in the midst of all the brethren in the vicinity of Fillmore.

I remain as ever, your brother
in the Gospel of salvation.
