I am much pleased to learn, through your friends and mine, brothers Snow and Peacock, that you are well and contended to remain quietly at home and suffer the wicked to slay the wicked, nor allowing yourself and people to be entangled in their broils. By continuing so wise a course you have a better prospect for lengthened days, and most certainly can better care for your family and home affairs. Bro. Snow and Peacock speak highly of your good conduct and feelings, with which I am much pleased.

I send you, by br's Snow and Peacock, some sugar, and coffee, and a little tobacco. There are many stores here now, but they want money for coats, blankets, &c. and I have so many to pay out money for that I have not money to spare to buy all the things many of my friends would like, and that I would like for them to have. By and by I will have some knives and other things, and I will try to send you 1 or 2 knives, a brass kettle, and a pair of boots, and also a coat or blanket if I can afford to get it.
