The Utah assembly declined to print Governor Hardings malicious message. Although Utah has repeatedly demonstrated loyalty to the U. S. Hardings, Drake and Waite urge legislation that would deny essential rights to Utah. Captain Lot Smith's Command has not been reimbursed.

Governor Harding and others try to create conflict. Utah will not concede constitutional rights in order to gain Statehood. An Indian tribe was defeated at the expense of numerous killed or wounded.
