President's Office,

Bishop Aaron Johnson, Springville,

Dear Brother:--
We received a note from Joseph Graing of your Ward, who says that he is going away, and wishes to be released from paying a note which, he says, he supposed he must have given on tithing, although he is not aware of having done so. If he has done any such thing, the note must be in your possession, as we have none answering that description in this office.

If the facts are as alleged, or if you have any other claim against him on account of Tithing, release it and let him go. Do not detain any man from leaving the country for a tithing debt.

Your Brother in the gospel of Christ,

Brigham Young
