Bishop John G. Smith,
Smithfield, Cache Co., U.T.

Dear Brother:-- Yours of the 21st. inst., is at hand, accompanied by a few lines from br. Maughan, requesting the loan of 100 bushels of wheat for seed, to be returned next Fall with use, or the same amount as borrowed to be delivered in this City at said time. I take pleasure in cheerfully complying with your request, and hereby authorize you to draw the 100 bushels of wheat, from the Tithing Office at Wellsville, or, if the amount cannot be spared from that office, so much thereof as can be consistently spared, and the balance from Brigham City.

Please say to Bro. Maughan that I am pleased with the item of news he communicated, and entirely concur with his judgement and intentions in the case.
Affairs continue to move favorably, and all is well.

Your Brother in the Gospel

Brigham Young

P.S. You will find the order enclosed.
