Dear Sir:-I take pleasure in acknowledging the receipt of your note of Feb. 18, and in informing you that I handed it to my Attorney, Hosea Stout, Esqr., who will at even date communicate with you upon the subject.

Trusting that you will keep Mr Stout fully and timely advised of your requirements from here, and that the Court will give you a reasonable opportunity for procuring evidence, taking into account, for so doing, the distance and the uncertainty in the postal operations, I remain,

P.S. As to Mr. Ahmanson so far as I know he is a man I never saw, and never had any description of deal with; and do not know that I even so much as ever heard of him until since he commenced his suit against me.
