Bro Holm[e]s,

I have your [illegible] which you state your ability to make Gunpowder.  I am anxious that Gunpowder be made in this Territory as soon & as extensively as possible.
I am not acquainted with your circumstances, and present business at Cedar City, but will state that I have a kettle, paper, Skins & [?] for making powder, which you are welcome to use either here  or any place you may prefer.

I should be much pleased to have you go into the business at once, and if you cannot, I would like to know why not,and in case you lack funds, I wish to know how much, what for, and what kind; at any rate I would like to have you come here and make a trial.

Please furnish me the required information as soon as convenient, & oblige your Brother in the Gospel.
