Dear Brother:--

One of br. Henry Baxter's wives, maiden name Jane Watson, is here, and in destitute circumstances. I am informed that br. Baxter neglects providing for her and has done <so> for some length of time. I wish you would converse with him upon the subject, and inform me of his views and intentions in relation to his wife Jane.

It seems that she was a young, inexperienced girl, who came in a hand cart company, was soon married to br. Baxter has had a child, and now it appears she has to shift for herself.

Affairs, with us, are moving peacefully industriously, and prosperously.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
