Dear Brother:-The bearer of this note is the son of a widow by the name of Thomas, she claims an ox from a brother Robison of Plain City who undertook some herding for her some year and a half ago, as she says. [-]e doubtless claims something for herding, therefore keeps her ox. Please investigate the matter and see if he has not been paid by working her ox, or if he is <really> intitled to anything and so arrange matters as shall be right in the premises, and if right secure to the widow this ox as that will make her a team for her son and thereby enable them to make a living. The Young man can give you further particulars.
