Bishop Chauncey W. West.

Dear Brother:

I wish you to proceed to Liverpool, England, and superintend for Pres. George Q. Cannon the affairs of the Office in that City, during his absence, which we expect will be but for a short time. I also wish you to make no public mention of this temporary charge, either in the 'Star' or otherwise, and to be guided therein as you may from time to time be instructed by Pres. Cannon. Should circumstances require, you are at liberty, aside from the persons who may be in the Liverpool Office and such other person or persons as Pres. Cannon may suggest, to call to your aid such person or persons as your judgement may dictate, to enable you to perform in the best possible manner the duties hereby devolved upon you, both in the clerking and editorial departments.

Should it be necessary for you to have a passport, please ask the Hon. W. H. Hooper to aid you in getting one.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
