Elder Isaac Allen,
Logan, Cache Valley, U. T.,

Care of Peter Maughan.

Dear Brother:

Mrs Elizabeth Baker, of Callow Green, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England, writes to me that you borrowed money from her husband, and have not returned it. Her husband died about one year ago, and just previous to his death expressed regret that you had not returned the money you borrowed from him. She is anxious to come here, but is unable to do so through [?] of the unrefunded money you borrowed of her husband.

Of course I am entirely ignorant as to why you did not promptly repay the money, and also why you have delayed payment so long. Be this as it may, you now have a chance in furnishing oats, or barley, or in hauling them, under a contract I have made with Mr. Ben Holladay, as br. Maughan can inform you, to raise the money to the full amount, and a little over for its use so long would not be amiss, and deposit it with br. D. C. Calder in my office, when I will at once advise Pres. Cannon to pay Mrs Baker the amount due from you to her, and which she so much needs.

Hoping that you will be as ready and willing to pay as you was to borrow, and trusting that you will at once and without fail make arrangements as aforesaid, or otherwise, for so doing,

I remain,

Your Brother in the Gospel
