Dear Brother:

Your very welcome favors of Nov. 10 and Dec. 18 came safely to hand.

I approve of your contemplated site for building entirely to the judgement of yourself and the brethren there.

Please inform me whether the brethren at Washington would like to let me have the mound north of that place and A few acres of ground around it with the view of my improving it.

I have no card clothing to spare, and we have no arrangements for purchasing and forwarding to San Pedro. Whether we shall send to the States this spring for machinery, &c., is not yet known; but if we do, and you wish me to send for you, if you will have the bills of precisely what you want sent for, with money enough to purchase and land the articals in Florence, forwarded to me in time I will endeavor to have them procured. It is possible that you can procure card clothing to a pretty good advantage in California, if so you could probably get it from there much earlier than it can be brought across the plains, if time is an object with you. Brs. Bringhurst and Houtz have advertised, in No 30, Vol. 12, Jan. 21, of the "News," [gap in typescript] for sale. perhaps you can manage to purchase that.

I will endeavor to comply with your wishes in regard to your indebtedness to Sister Snell.

Br. Orson Pratt is at present in Tooelle, and probably will  not start for St George until the weather is more moderate. Just now the weather is pretty cool, and there are some 3 or 4 inches of snow on the ground

My health and that of the people generally is very good.

Your Brother in the Gospel,
Brigham Young
