Dear Sir

In reply to your note of to-day, with inclosure, I haveto state that I have no knowledge of speaking words, either in the Tabernacle or elsewhere, in the connection nor that would convey the ideas as contained in Col. Gambles dispatch to you of even date, "given by Salt Lake correspondent Chicago Tribune", neither can I imagine what remarks of mine said correspondent alluded to.

If Col. Gamble will furnish the on which I am alleged to have made such remarks, it will afford me pleasure to at once furnish you the words I did speak.
