Dear Brother:-

The bearer of these lines, br. Joseph H. Ridges, visits the States for the purpose of buying materials for the construction of a large Church organ, which we wish him to build for our new Tabernacle now being erected.

To accomplish the purpose of his visit he will need the facilities of money and freight, and I therefore wish you to furnish him such sums of money as he may call upon you for, and make arrangement for such amount of freight as he may have, within the limits of the requirements of the business upon which he is sent as aforesaid. He estimates the cost of the materials he wishes to purchase at some $1000, and the freight at some 1000 pounds.

As previously advised by telegram on the 3 inst., I inclose you a draft on A. J. Center for $4000. This amount will probably more than cover the cost of the 300 kegs of nails I telegraphed you to purchase as follows:-- 10 kegs each of sixes, twenties, and forties = 30; 20 kegs of twelves = 20; 30 kegs each of threes and fours = 60; 70 kegs of tens = 70; and 120 of eights; total 300; and the cost of the organ materials and freight thereof that br. Ridtes is instructed to purchase. The nails are wanted for our new Tabernacle, the grist mill I am building on City Creek, &c., and we have not iron to make them.

I will put up the building you want for the cotton machinery you are purchasing, and wish you to be very careful to have every part and particle of said machinery complete throughout, nothing wanting for perfect working, and [word cut off] secure the services of a proper person perfectly competent to put up and run the machinery upon its arrival here. I trust you will not fail to purchase the Grand Piano you have already [word cut off] advised to purchase.

Inclosed is an order on you in favor of Heber P. Kimball for $195.00 which amount I to-day telegraph br. F. Little to pay to Heber P. at Florence to accommodate him there, you will therefore refund that amount to br. Little, as that class of funds is in your hands. All well and doing well.

Your Brother in the Gospel.
