Dr. J. D. M. Crockwell

Sir:

I learn, from your note of the 2nd inst., that your feelings incline to Provo as a place of residence, and I am quite willing that you consult and gratify your feelings in such a move, as Provo affords an ample field for a person to do, in many ways, all the good he may be capable of doing.

Inasmuch as you wish a word or two of counsel from me, I think that, under all the circumstances, it would be the best plan for you to at first arrange for raising your own wheat, meat, potatoes, &c. &., that your means for living may be within your own controle, which will leave you easier in mind and means to do what good you can in such cases as you may be called upon professionally

There are good places and farms in Provo, I understand, owned and for sale by persons in this City, and I presume can be obtained upon reasonable terms. And it is also probable that should you not be able to purchase of owners residing here, you may be able to find persons residing in Provo who would like to sell.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
