Mr. James Street,
San Francisco, California

Dear Sir:-

Please accept my thanks for your favor of the 26th ult., and for your many courtesies, which are kindly appreciated by me. Circumstances have prevented my giving an early reply.

I am willing to carry the U. S. mail from this City to Reese River, provided we can agree upon the terms, for I feel assured that I have superior facilities for performing the service in question. But you are aware, through having often passed over the route, that that portion is poorly supplied with grass and water, and much of it almost entirely desert. These facts should be fairly considered, in apportioning shares of the gross amount to service upon different parts of the route, and doubtless will be so considered by Mr. McLane and his associates.

Any further points or propositions on this subject will meet candid consideration by,

Respectfully Your Friend,

Brigham Young
