Dear Brother:-

In reply to your favor of Feb. 25, just to hand, I take the liberty, in a friendly manner, of informing you that in 1833 the prophet Joseph Smith ordered me to never aid in building up gentile cities, but to always labor for the upbuilding and establishment of the kingdom of God. From that day to this I have endeavored to carry out his counsel upon this point as well as upon all others, and I cordially recommend all the Saints to stay in and labor to build up the kingdom of <our> God, with the assurance that in <so> doing they will secure by far the richer reward, and let the Gentiles build their own cities

The brethren in Round Prairie, a few miles south of the Sevier river bridge, are without a Bishop, and I have thought, if it is agreeable to your feelings, that I would like to have you come here, at your earliest convenience, and we would ordain you to be

Bishop in that place. I understand that there are good mill facilities there, and, that mills are much needed.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
