Dear Brother:

Your note dated the 1st and 8th inst. came to hand yesterday. The carding machine is a very excellent, two feet double one, with wooden frame and iron arches, and, with the picker, will weigh, I should think, from 3000 to 4000 pounds.

Unless the person who is to tend the machine, or some one in your town, understands grinding the cards, it had better have the clothing on and the cards ground here, as it only requires proper care to move it perfectly safe with the cards on.

A card, comb and some emery can go with the machine.

I presume there will be wool enough for both yourself and Br's Gillis & Co.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young

P. S.

Two wide track wagons brought the machine and picker from Florence to this city.
