The Hon. John A. Dix, President of the Union Pacific Railroad Company, has informed me by letter of 3d inst. that he expects Samuel B. Reed, Esqr., to arrive here about the 15th of April, to superintend the railroad surveying in this region, and I would like to have you make it convenient to be here when he arrives, in readiness to operate as circumstances may require, and in so doing you will oblige,
