Dear Brother:

Yours of March 23 is to hand. It will cost from eight to fourteen thousand dollars to land cotton machinery to any particular benifit in your City, for which reason I think it the best policy for you to use the small amount you mention in the purchase of waggons, stoves, nails, glass, &c., &c.,-- articles of immediate necessity and benifit-- and defer the purchase of cotton machinery until you can raise the requisite amount of means.

Your Brother in the Gospel,

Brigham Young
