To the Bishops North of Great Salt Lake City:

Captain Smith with One Hundred and Sixty discharged Soldiers are on their way, this afternoon, to California through our Norhern Settlements, intending to go by the way of the Humboldt. Bishops, have you any chickens, pigs, calves and sheep in your Settlements? Have you any women? and are there any children running around in your streets? Take care of your Flocks. Take care of your Wards.
