The beautiful lithograph,-- "The Rescued Flag"-- designed and executed by your brother, Mr. Jas. A. Shearman, of New York, which you had framed and sent to me, has just been handed to me.

Your brother handles the pencil well and I view this lithograph as a finely executed and valuable work of art and I accept it with pleasure, and thank you for it.
