Mr James M. Hardie,

Dear Brother:

Your letter of the 10th instant, in which you express the feelings of sorrow and regret that you have had since you were persuaded to disregard the advice of your true friends and expressing your desire and determination to regain the respect and good feeling which you have lost, has been received.

I have no feelings against you, and truly hope, as you say, that you have learned a lesson that you will never forget. The proper course for you now to take is to go to work industriously, and in a proper spirit, and redeem your character and prove yourself worthy of a standing and name among the people of God, that you may secure the confidence of all good men.
