President's Office,
Gt Salt Lake City,
Jan. 31, 1866.

Messrs Wm. Jennings, Hy. W. Lawrence
and Wm. S. Godbe,

Dear Brethren:-

Your favor of January _____, 1866, in which you propose the idea of giving Stage Manager John T. Caine a complimentary benefit at my Theatre, in view of his early departure for the Eastern States, has been received.

I am pleased to learn that, beside the satisfaction which Bro. Caine's managerial career has given to myself, his "labors as a Manager have met with the universal approval of all classes of the community;" and that these labors have prompted the kind proposal and expressions of which you are the exponents.

I have fixed on Monday evening, Feb. 5th, as the most suitable time for the complimentary benefit which you propose, and take pleasure in offering you the use of the Theatre for that night; and it will afford me extreme gratification to learn that the Benefit has met your most sanguine hopes for its success and proved a fitting Testimonial of appreciation to a worthy and hard working gentleman.

Your Brother

Brigham Young
