Messrs Joseph D. Spencer, & David Milne,
care of R. F. Pickett Esqr.
214 Sacramento St San. Francisco.

Dear Brethren:-

Your favor of Jan. 26 ult. came to hand yesterday and I hasten to reply. Elder Dwight Eveleth is in San Francisco and in charge of the branch of the Church there. I cannot do better than recommend you to call on him and counsel with him as to the best course for you to take. I have written to him and mentioned your circumstances to him, and he will render you any assistance in his power.

You may be able to obtain employment there and save your money which you have on hand until the way opens for you to come here. There is not much travel between San Francisco and thispoint -- that is, companies suitable for emigrants to travel with. By keeping yourselves acquainted you may hear of opportunities for crossing the plains. Should there be any opportunity through persons parties leaving here for California I will communicate with bro. Eveleth on the subject. With love and praying the Lord to bless you and to open up your way to reach Zion

I remain Your Brother,

Brigham Young
