Dear Brother:--

I have just received a letter from you asking me to assist your relatives who are in England to emigrate. It would give me great pleasure to comply with the many applications of this kind which I receive so frequently from the brethren and sisters; but there is a limit to my ability, as well as to the ability of yourself and the other brethren. To emigrate the Saints, money is needed; nothing but money will pay ship-owners for their Ships, provision merchants for their provisions, and Railroad Companies for the use of their cars and lines to carry the Saints. I am so situated that I cannot hold out any hopes to the brethren about the emigration of their folks from England, as I am kept on the strain to perform the labors that must be attended to with the means at my disposal.

With love I remain,
Your Brother.
