Bishop Willard G. Smith
Morganville, Morgan Co.,

Dear Brother:-

Frank F. Fox has made a claim on me for wages for setting 1135 fruit buds and 86 rose buds at my mill farm. He says that you and bro. Morris engaged him to do this budding. I have written to him in answer to his note containing the charge, that I knew nothing about this, and could not pay him until I learned more about it. I supposed that all my trees down there were root-grafted, and was not aware that any budding had been done, or that any was needed. I would like to hear from you on this subject.

With love, I remain Your Brother
Brigham Young
