Bishop Wm. Miller,

Dear Brother:--

Under date of the 16th instant I have received a letter from Bro. Thomas Jaques of your place, acknowledging his faults and requesting forgiveness, and giving a long explanation of the difficulty between himself and his wife, through which she has left him and taken the children with her. He says that he has been intemperate, and because of this his wife left him; but he has repented of this, and intends, by the help of the Lord to indulge in it no more and he pleads for his wife and children to be restored to him. His letter is humble and penitent. Are you acquainted with <the circumstances of> this case? Can a reconciliation be effected between himself and family?

With love I remain Your Brother,
Brigham Young
