Bishop John R. Murdock,
Beaver City, Beaver Co.

Dear Brother:-

Your favor of the 24th inst., in relation to the brethren moving to snake Creek to settle has been received.

There is no objection to a settlement being made on snake Creek; but, before those who wish to settle there take a woman or a child away from our settlements, they must build a secure Fort, in which they can be protected from the attacks of Indians; and after they have built the fort, there should always be enough of men to guard it and keep it safe. When they have taken these precautions they can take their families.

With love, I remain Your Brother,

Brigham Young
