Sister Sharp, the mother of Mrs. Elam Sperry of Stockton your County, complains that her daughter is shamefully abused by her drunken & profane husband, who threatens to take her life if she refuses to accompany him east or attempts to prevent him taking the three children (girls, oldest some 8 years) Mrs Sperry is very desirous of being released from her husband who does not provide for his family as he should & who has been brutal enough to kick her neither is she at all willing that he should take the children off.

It has been suggested that you as Probate Judge of Tooele County investigate the matter -- of course on her complaint, & in the mean time give her such protection & provide for her such necessities as her circumstances may demand
