Mr. Robert Brown
care of J. S. Keeling,
No. 16 Broadway, New York.

Dear Sir:

Your favor of June 5th has been handed to me by Mr. Clawson.

We are not in circumstances at the present time to engage any persons to act in such a position connected with our Line of Telegraph as would suit you. Our enterprise, so far, is not of a character to warrant us in engaging help from a distance, and we must, therefore, try and get along with the men we
have already engaged.

There is no business out here that I now know about would be suitable for yourself or cousin.

I remain Respectfully,

Brigham Young
