President's Office,
Gt. Salt Lake City,
August 10th, 1866.

Joseph A. Young, Esq.,

Dear Son:

I wish you to proceed on the Road from here to Green River and learn where Bro. John Sharp is, and ascertain the progress that is being made in the delivery of the Telegraph poles under my Contract, and whether they will all be delivered by the 25th instant. Upon arriving at a thorough knowledge of the real condition of this work, should you, in your judgement, conclude that help is needed to complete the delivery by the above date, then I wish you to either make a suitable arrangement with Bro. Gilbert Webb --should he be so situated as to admit of your doing so -- and secure his services, or to telegraph me and I will send the needed help; for the delivery of the poles must be completed, without fail, be completed by the 25th instant.

Your Father,

Brigham Young

P. S. You must see that the Poles are the proper size.
