Elder Jesse B. Martin,
Scipio, Millard Co.

Dear Brother:

I have received a letter from your wife, Ann Clark, in which she complains of your treatment of her -that you neglect her and have treated her badly.

You should not thus neglect your wife, the Mother of your children. She may not do as well in all things as you would wish; but she is your wife, you have taken her, and you should provide for her, and not leave her to the charity of the people. Take steps to provide for her in the future that she do not want. Men who take upon themselves the holy obligation of husband, and leave women to suffer who have reposed confidence in them, have a heavy debt to settle unless they repent.

With love, I remain Your Brother,

Brigham Young
