Dear Brother:

Col. W. Willard Smith called upon me this morning to see me in relation to hiring my half of the Hotel, and going into partnership with you. I have to wish to do anything of this kind without consulting your feelings. If you would like to have a Partner like Col. Smith, you can let me know, and I will rent him my half. This, however, will be as you wish in the matter, for I have no wishes respecting it.
