Dear Brother:  In the settlement of Gov. B. Young with the Indian Department, they have deducted from his account $189.75 for Blacksmith tools. Did you retain the tools or did you turn them over to Forney or Davis, Superintendent?  IF you turned them over send the receipt to me. If your retained them President Young will expect you to pay him the amount. They have also charged him with $700. your salary for 1856, which was paid to you through Gilbert & Gerrish. The amount I think can be collected by sending your voucher -- it is herewith sent for your signature. Please return by first mail.

Yours truly

David O. Calder
