Gt. Salt Lake City,
Octr. 12th, 1866.

O. H. Palmer, Esq.,
Secretary Western Union Tel. Co.

New York City,

Dear Sir:

I have this day drawn the following Drafts on you: No. 907 for Thirteen Thousand Dollars ($13,000.00) at thirty days sight, in favor of Wm. Jennings; No. 908, for One Thousand Dollars, ($1,000.00) at Sight, in favor of Elias Perry; and No. 909 for Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) at Sight, in favor of John Sharp.

My contract with Messrs. Barney, Morgan & Co., to furnish Telegraph Poles East and West, is completed. I am now engaged in putting up Poles North. The Poles for our Home Telegraph, through our Territory, reach sixty miles North on the route selected by your Company for the new Line North; I am now putting on Cross arms on those Poles for your Line to be stretched on alongside of ours, to obviate the necessity of putting up another set of Poles. Between this point and Green River East I have set the Poles for the Company's new Line -- about 170 miles from this City -- and have put on Cross arms as far as Ham's Fork, where the New and the old Lines fork.

The Poles, with the exception of some of them being crooked, are as good as any that can be found anywhere. I hope there will not be any interference to prevent a speedy settlement of the account.

I remain
Yours Truly

Brigham Young
