Dear Sir:

Your letter of Sept. 23rd, making inquiry respecting your Step Mother, your Mother and brother and sister, has been received.

Your Step Father, Richard Brasier, is still living. Your Mother died here in 1850. Your Sister died at a place called Mount Pisgah, one of our stopping places in what is now the State of Iowa, in the year 1846. She was married to a man by the name of Nathan Stewart and had three children -- boys-- by him, who are in this country with their father, and are now men grown. Your brother, James Mott, stayed in Springfield, Illinois; Father Brasier says that he was told by a man passing through that he was dead.

Father Brasier would like you to write to him, and he will give you all the particulars he can. Yours, &c.
